I love plants, but I wouldn’t say I have a great green-thumb yet. Something I am gradually learning from lots of trial and error, sadly enough for the plants that went through my beginner stage. Oops. I started with a few small succulents and they didn’t make it because I definitely did not do enough research on how much water they need/don’t need – something I learned the hard way is VERY important! I also have found some other plants that have done super well for me in our apartment with little light and little care! Win – Win!...Read More
I’m all about summer food- from the berries, grilling out, watermelon, ice cream- some of my favorite foods are summertime foods! I love smoothies in the summer but I HATE the clean up post-smoothie! I also struggle to get enough greens in everyday and this is a perfect way to throw a few handfuls of spinach in to get your green kick 😉 And, let’s be honest…Some green smoothies are kind of hard to choke down- these have greens in them but also still taste delicious! I’ve recently been prepping a big batch and freezing them. It’s awesome to...Read More
With the 100 degree heat the past week, I have been craving something fresh and super easy to make. And since it’s the first day of summer, strawberry avocado salsa with cinnamon sugar pita crisps was the perfect thing go to. The salsa is the perfect mix of savory and the sweet pita adds an awesome contrast. This is great for a light lunch, appetizers for guests, or just a snack! you need | salsa 1-1.5 cups of chopped strawberries (I like more in mine but you are fine just using a cup) 2 avocados, peeled, cut into cubes*...Read More
I LOVE banana bread thanks to my wonderful mother, who has showed me a recipe to make it a little healthier but still delicious! If you love banana bread AND chocolate but want a lighter recipe, this is for YOU. The greek yogurt still makes it soft and and the ripened bananas make it super sweet (along with the maple syrup of course!). If you feel like 1/2 cup of maple syrup is a bit much, try just 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup Splenda or alternative sweetener. Gluten free? Try using coconut flour- equally delicious! what you need: •2...Read More
Jake and I decided to give this a try a few weeks ago and now we are hooked! I’m telling you, this is the most delicious thing. We were skeptical at first but I promise you, give it a try and you’ll love it. Makes a healthy dinner option and is impressive (but secretly) easy to make for guests! Also, it’s 30 calories per cup….A great option if you love pasta but want a little lower calorie option. 😉 The KEY: Use a good amount of EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) and garlic salt to give it great flavor....Read More
