I’m all about summer food- from the berries, grilling out, watermelon, ice cream- some of my favorite foods are summertime foods! I love smoothies in the summer but I HATE the clean up post-smoothie! I also struggle to get enough greens in everyday and this is a perfect way to throw a few handfuls of spinach in to get your green kick 😉 And, let’s be honest…Some green smoothies are kind of hard to choke down- these have greens in them but also still taste delicious! I’ve recently been prepping a big batch and freezing them. It’s awesome to pull one out a few hours before I plan on drinking it with NO clean up. I bought a 12 pack of 16 oz. mason jars from Target for around $8. Great investment and you can easily make 12 smoothies to enjoy with no clean up and no prep! I use my Ninja blender and usually get three smoothies per batch I make and I end up making 3-4 batches. Here are a few recipes I’ve been experimenting with!

Smoothie #1 | Green Pineapple and Strawberry Smoothie (I made two batches of this)

1.5-2 cups unsweetened almond milk

2/3 cup trader joe’s greek whole milk yogurt (plain)

1 tbsp. trader joe’s multi-floral and clover honey

1 cup trader joe’s frozen pineapple tidbits

1 cup trader joe’s frozen whole strawberries

1.5 frozen banana

2.5 cups of spinach (you could use kale as well, I usually prefer spinach)

Blend yogurt, 1 cup almond milk, honey and spinach together until smooth This helps get rid of the grainy taste spinach can give. Add frozen banana, pineapple, strawberries and rest of almond milk and blend. If needed, add more almond milk to blend until smooth.

*second batch I added more spinach and pineapple and less strawberries

Smoothie #2 | Green Raspberry Banana Smoothie

1.5-2 cups unsweetened almond milk

2/3 cup trader joe’s greek whole milk yogurt (plain)

1 tbsp. trader joe’s multi-floral and clover honey

2 cups trader joe’s frozen raspberries

2 frozen bananas

1 cup trader joe’s whole frozen strawberries

3 cups spinach

Blend yogurt, 1 cup almond milk, honey and spinach together until smooth. Add frozen banana, raspberries, strawberries and rest of almond milk and blend. If needed, add more almond milk to blend until smooth.

I sometimes will add 2-3 tbsp. of chia seeds for extra kick of energy. Enjoy getting 1 cup of greens in that you can’t even taste!
